Developers of a Water Trails Master Plan for Black Hawk County are seeking your participation during two public input meetings. The two meetings will be hosted at two different sites, but the same information will be presented at each:
Jul 31, 4:30-6:30 pm at Island Park Beach House in Cedar Falls
Aug 2, 4:30-6:30 pm at Waterloo Boat House in Waterloo
The Master Plan involves long-term planning for 41 miles of the Cedar River and 14 miles of Black Hawk Creek. The plan will also include guidance for improving the Cedar Valley Paddlers Trail, a seven to eight-mile loop through George Wyth State Park which includes several lakes and portages – a miniature Boundary Waters-like experience. Opportunities for “pedal–paddle” excursions will also be identified to take advantage of the extensive paved trails network in Black Hawk County.
Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments (INRCOG) is leading the plan development as part of a contract with the Iowa DNR. The Master Plan target completion date is December 2018.
