The folks at Indian Creek Nature Center invite you to attend the 11th anniversary of their “Paddle Day” in Cedar Rapids. The event will be held from 9:00 am-1:00 pm at the ICNC “Amazing Space” building, 5300 Otis Road SE, Cedar Rapids.
Whether you’re new to paddling or an experienced veteran, you will learn something new and be inspired to get out on the water. Connect with a paddling buddy, share experiences, learn about new gear or discover a new place to paddle. Look forward to a variety of breakout sessions, vendor tables, a raffle and door prizes, meeting other local paddlers, and high quality refreshments.
Check-in and social time begins at 8:30 am.
Speakers and presentations begin at 9:00 am. The keynote speaker will be Nate Hoogeveen, Director of Iowa DNR River Programs, and author of “Paddling Iowa: 128 Outstanding Journeys by Canoe and Kayak.” Other presenters include Rick Hill (Paddlesport Racing), Tanner Speidel (Kayak Fishing), Molly Hanson (Realize Your River), and Todd Robertson (Planning, Safety & Behavior).
Choose from breakout sessions on six topics for the beginner, the advanced paddler, and those looking to broaden their skills. A “Community Share” session will provide an opportunity for local paddlers and community members to share info about upcoming trips, events, and news.
Paddle Day will conclude with a raffle drawing for a variety of gear, memberships, rentals, and more.
