Veterans Day r

Nov 11; Veterans Day.  On April 6, 1917, the U.S. joined its allies–Britain, France, and Russia–to fight in the “Great War.” Under the command of Major General John J. Pershing, more than 2 million U.S. soldiers fought on battlefields in France. The war ended when Germany agreed to an armistice effective  November 11, 1918 (“11th hour of 11th day of 11th month”). This became known as “Armistice Day,” later “Veterans Day.”
