Kayak Pool Sessions in Iowa City. Practice or learn paddling skills in a controlled environment. North Dodge Athletic Club, 2400 North Dodge Street. Drop-in sessions, 4:30-6:30 pm on specific Saturdays. Fee $10 per person per time, minimum age 10 years, everyone must be in swimwear & a lifejacket, helmet required for those practicing rolls, youth must be supervised by an adult. Call Jon Pruessner at 319-210-6061. Hunters and anglers are encouraged to purchase their 2019 license before their 2018 license expires. Annual Iowa hunting and fishing licenses expire on Jan 10. License holders who purchased the three year option should check the date range printed on their license for expiration. New resident fishing licenses are available Dec 15.

The 5th Annual Fishing Academy, Saturday, Jan 12 at Wickiup Hill Learning Center, 10260 Morris Hills Rd, Toddville, IA 52341 in Linn County, will include several presentations & exhibits on kayak fishing. This popular winter event is sponsored by Linn County Conservation Department & Hawkeye Angling Adventures. Reservations are not required. The $20 fee includes lunch.

Eagle viewing on the lake with spotting scopes and interpreters. Cottonwood Rec Area and Bob Shetler Rec Area will be open for viewing. Eagle movie at the lake visitor center.
1-3 pm Jester Park will have live birds presentations on the hour.
Participants can pick up a passport at either location, complete, and enter into a drawing.
Stop by the Saylorville Visitor’s Center to learn about the bald eagle, then venture outside to view them in their natural habitat. Jester Park Lodge will host a live eagle used for education. Hourly programs start at 1 pm. FREE. No registration required.
