Cedar River Water Trail Plan – River User Listening Session: 10/28/20

Please join us next Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for River Users Listening Session regarding the Cedar River Water Trail Plan. This will be a virtual meeting through Zoom, and if you’d like to attend, please email Alyssa Tenorio with JEO Consulting Group at

The Mitchell County Conservation Board and Iowa DNR are pursuing the designation of a state water trail that will provide a unique recreational experience in Mitchell County, IA, through the development of the Cedar River Water Trail Plan. Required for state designation, a water trail plan provides an overview of the recreational amenity, including a detailed map with access points and distance.

Water trail plans are developed to specifically identify and prioritize both known issues and improvement opportunities along the proposed trail while also highlighting the area’s history, culture, and wildlife. As such, it’s imperative the plan is responsive to local desires and concerns, which is why we are reaching out to landowners, land managers, and river users to discuss each’s perspective.

If you have any questions regarding the project, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We hope you can join us during next Wednesday’s river users listening session!
